The new Athletic Field located at Spectrum’s High School, was under construction in Fall of 2023 and will be ready for use the following spring. The start of all of this is when the original field at the High School was ripped down and made into a parking lot for the rising student population here at Spectrum. Doing this, they had to create a solution, and the new field was just that. Rick Peterson, the school’s Athletic Director said, “The Phy ed field just gives us more options here at Spectrum, whether they’re for Phy ed, for athletics, or for our marching band, whoever is able to use the field.”
Dan DeBruyn, the school’s Executive Director said, “it’s part of the big picture…all of it is very doable by the spring of ‘25.” Spectrum is planning on adding a fun and exciting new Field House and Performing Arts Center for students to utilize.

“So in the spring, the idea is that everyone who’s playing on those fields at the 7/8 grade building will be able to come over and play on this field. At the same time, we would like to start construction over there on those fields for our Field House”, said DeBruyn. The Field House will have three full-court gymnasiums, three lane track indoor track, a bigger free weight room, an indoor walking track, and more classrooms on the second floor for the rise in students.

The current gymnasium at the High School will become a Performing Arts Center where Theater will be able to have rehearsals and shows much more conveniently. In addition, more classes will be contributed at the High School, as well.
