From Page to Stage: The Cast of Little Women Shines in the Spotlight

After countless hours of hard work and determination Spectrum’s Theater department is nearing opening night.

Every play comes with its challenges, but it can also be a challenge when you have a new director and assistant director. Mr. De Haan is the director. He used to be the assistant director for the theater program and the new choir teacher Mr. Kempernick took his old position. While the addition of the two new directors might seem like a huge challenge, everyone can agree that Mr. De Haan and Mr. Kempernick have both stepped up and filled these positions wonderfully. Lyla Glinsek said “Mr. De Haan brings something different to the table.” With the previous experience and passion for theater, he’s filled the role well. Mr. Kempernick has also been a great hand to Mr. De Haan. “He’s been a huge help and I’m very grateful for his addition to the theater department,” said Mr. De Haan.

The theater program has high hopes for this performance. “This has been my favorite production like we’ve had a ton of fun. These kids have poured in so much to it and it’s a really great group so it’s so fun,” said Mr. De Haan. This classic rendition of a well known story is going to wow the audience. “Everybody is going to love it,” said Liana Dixon.

The story of Little Women is a classic that many people have either heard about or read. “It’s the story of a family who lived a long time ago kind of like homestead vibes they are they are not very wealthy, they don’t have a lot of money and that is comes up through multiple times in the show,  but it has a lot of underlying family values and just like that you can find love even in love and light in the darkest places,” said Glinsek. You can come out and see this production on November 22, 23, and 24.
