This year, Spectrum started a new project, construction of the 5th grade building. This building won’t just be for 5th grade classes though, according to Dan DeBruyn, instead this building will include a track, as well as 3 different spots in the middle for sports and gym actives.
“It’s gonna really be a game changer um it’s gonna allow in the athletic complex were gonna have the three main courts a running track on the side, a weight room which is huge I think Spectrum has done a great job competing at the conference level I think what needs to be improved is bringing a weight train program into our athletic program and the overall space and the aspects that this facility is going to provide us will be able to give us a better shot of competing at that section level making it to state things like that.” Some of the main reasons for making this building were, expanding our fine arts program, gaining students earlier, more funding, and meeting the needs of our community, according to Mr. DeBruyn. Mr. Poidinger added some positive words with,
“When you build a facility like this it sort of becomes the hub of everything you do. It’s kind of the stamp of your campus and I think it’s just gonna bring a great addition to an already successful program that’s gonna take us to the next level.” Lastly Mr. Poidinger made a great closing statement with, “It’s gonna really be a game changer, it’s gonna allow in the athletic complex were gonna have the three main courts, a running track on the side, a weight room, which is huge. I think Spectrum has done a great job competing at the conference level I think what needs to be improved is bringing a weight train program into our athletic program and the overall space and the aspects that this facility is going to provide us will be able to give us a better shot of competing at that section level making it to state things like that.” Many of Spectrum’s staff are looking forward to the building and the new opportunities it will bring.
