Spectrum High School welcomes a fresh wave of educators this year, bringing diverse expertise and new teaching methods to enrich the academic environment for students. These teachers have their own unique way of doing things. One really unique thing that some of our new teachers do is how they make their classroom flexible for the needs of their students.
Mr. Gindele, a 9th, 10th, and 11th grade Math and 21st Century Skills teacher said, “Recognizing that every student has a different background and really being able to embrace all of those the best you can while being kind of authentic with yourself so for me as a teacher I like to joke around a bit and I think that math can be can be seen as a boring class so I do try to make class a little bit lighter.” These new teachers have all kinds of different backgrounds and all have different reasons as to why they came to Spectrum. Mr. Sunderland, a 8th, 9th, 10th, and 11th grade Math teacher has a unique reason as to why he chose to come to Spectrum.
“My experience in the past has been more in small or private schools I was us I was attracted to the idea of teaching at a school that was a little bit larger Spectrum’s not really large it’s larger than the school I was in before um and just the opportunity to get to you know meet and interact with so many different students,” said Mr. Sunderland.
Teachers of all kinds have some non-negotiables, some stand out more than others, but for our new teachers they have some that most other teachers would just let slide.
“A big one is just not saying insulting things or being rude so like I don’t want people to say shut up in my class or to call themselves or others stupid so that’s a really hard and fast one for me,” said Ms. Krueger, a 10th and 11th grade College and Career Readiness 2, College and Career Readiness 3, and Earth and Space Science teacher. The new teachers here at Spectrum High-School are ready to make this an outstanding school year.
