A Run Through The Fall Sports Season

The Fall Sports at Spectrum High School had an amazing 2025 season. From growing in numbers to going further than ever in competition. The teams came together to build a strong community.

Many of the teams shared how their numbers have grown this year. Jacob Enstrom shared that trap had a lot of younger shooters, and as a captain he enjoyed helping them improve and really grow in their sport. Ryan Guntzel also talked about how cross country was bigger than previous years.

Ryan Guntzel said, “We’ve just had a couple down years size-wise. And I got there on the first day, there was probably 28, maybe even 30 people. And it was just really cool to see new young runners come out and enjoy the sport.”

The Girls soccer team had young growth too.

Elaina Palmer said, “We had an extremely high number of younger girls.”

With so many of the lower grades joining Spectrum sports there is a bright future to look forward to.

The future is often decided by the past. Several of the athletes shared how they made it further this season. They also talked about how the people that came before them helped to make that difference. Brenna Gray shared how well the co-oped swim team did.

Brenna Gray said, “We got second in our conference and…We were undefeated until our last dual meet.”

This was amazing as they were not only winning their meets but they were sweeping the other teams out of the water.

Carmen McDonough said, “We got as far as we ever did in conference or we won conference for the first time ever and then we got as far as we ever had in section. And so that was really fun. And we also had the most wins in a season.”

This made it a ground breaking and record setting season for the team. Cross Country also got to see an improvement as they went to state.

Guntzel said, “Both the boys and girls school records for the 5K were broken. For the boys side with Caleb, it was pretty huge because that record was standing from  2018. I want to say. So, that was that was super cool to see. Hannah, she did really well this year. She every time she got a PR was the school record and it was just really fun year.”

Many of the other fall sports set new records and competed more competitively this season.

Setting records and competing well aren’t the only thing that make up a great team experience.

Palmer said, “Everybody I feel like was just in the moment the whole season and just was happy to be together and being able to practice.”

The girls soccer team was able to focus on the things that go deeper in life. As they also made it to fourth in Sections.

The football team had a ground breaking season in which the coaches brought a lot of team work and dedication to every practice even twice a day during part of the season. There were results from this hard work as the team also got to grow closer in the wins. Asher Faatz described his favorite things from this season as a part of the boys soccer team.

Asher Faatz said, “Getting second place in sections and winning a lot of our games and coming back on plenty of them, especially beating some of the teams we didn’t beat last year.”

Trap might not have broken records but this year was a chance for them to get stronger for next year.

Enstrom said, “I’m proud of the community we’ve built up together. It’s a strong community where anyone can ask anyone anything or we’re always there or someone messes up or you don’t have something, someone else has got it for you.”

Overall the fall sports season was a success as memories were made and resilience was tested.
