For some, music is just something they hear. For others, from packed arenas to small, crowded venues, live music is something they feel. For Liana Dixon and Lily Schmidt, an upcoming concert they’re attending together will mean more than just a night out; it will create an experience to see a favorite artist just a few feet away.

Liana Dixon, a Junior at Spectrum, said, “Just being able to see kind of like, wow, like this person’s actually really good and they can sing just as well as like a recorded version in front of like a live audience like going on tour for like several months. So, I think it’s really cool just to experience like how gifted some people are”.

Concerts create memories that will last a lifetime. This can be anything from singing one’s heart out, to their favorite song, to funny memories that become stories to tell.

Lily Schmidt, a Junior at Spectrum, said, “I think this upcoming concert’s going to be interesting because Liana and I are going alone, so we’re probably going to get lost.”

Similarly, when talking about memories that had been created, Dixon said, “Also like I thought I was going to get lost walking through the parking garage on the way back ’cause it was super late. But I made it, I made it back in one piece!”

There are so many aspects to concerts that can create an addictive atmosphere. From big crowds and loud music to smaller venues with a more intimate feel, past concert experiences have kept Schmidt and Dixon coming back for more. When asked about why she keeps coming back, Dixon mentioned being in an environment with so many diverse people coming together, because they all have something in common: their love for a particular artist and their music.

Schmidt said, “I keep going and emptying my bank account, because I think it’s just a fun way to spend my time and I like going with my friends and like losing my voice and getting to scream to music that I listen to every day,” showing that the experience isn’t something she wants to miss out on.

This experience is something both girls think everyone should have at least once in their lives.

“I think that everybody should go to at least one concert just to get kind of like the experience of it and it’s definitely something that’s unlike a lot of things,” said Dixon.

Whether it’s the atmosphere, the emotion, or the connection to the music, live concerts leave a lasting impression on people’s lives. For Lily and Liana, concerts mean more than just a night out, they mean experiences.
