Students at Spectrum have found out how to utilize their hair when it comes to expressing themselves. Through color, length, style, and shape, students explore ways to give a more unique look to themselves. Creating a look to match every individual personality.
Mr. Briggs, one of Spectrum High School’s paras said, “Taking a risk, with your fashion, with hair and stuff like that, I mean, I know it sounds funny but it’s kind of empowering feeling like you have control over your life a little bit.”
Maddison Peterson, a 10th grader at spectrum said, “At the end of the day, it’s your hair, you can cut it, you can grow it back, you can re-dye it if you don’t like it. It’s just very dramatic, so just do it.”

Looking around at your peers is way more fun when everyone is different. Changing your appearance inspires both you and everyone else around you, seeing others change their appearance is just as fun, if not more fun than changing your own appearance. Giving a fresh look to your hair is such a fun and unique way to express yourself and it can make you happier knowing people see you as what you want to be seen as.
Sophia Van Den Einde, a 10th grader at Spectrum said “Just do it, and it’s cool and it’s fun, and you don’t wanna look like everyone else.”
When you are walking around, whether it is in public, at school, or anywhere else, look at the people around you. The pop of color in someone’s hair isn’t just a style choice, it’s who they are. So make sure you can express yourself in a way you want to, one strand at a time.
